Hello my lovelies! How are you all doing? Today I am coming back with a review of the new Color Club stamping plates, which were sent to me by Color4Nails. Color Club has just added large stamping plates to their collection and they released quite a lot of them. You may have already read some reviews by other bloggers and it seems like these Color Club stamping plates are very hit or miss. I am one of those unlucky ones, who was not able to work them out.
One thing that I have noticed right away upon the arrival of these plates is the beautiful packaging. They come in a cardboard packaging with instructions in the back. The plates are glued into a beautiful white plastic cover and they have a gorgeous gold color. The whole presentation looks beautiful!
Let me tell you why I think these plates are not worth their whopping price tag of $10. I had a BIG problem with picking up the designs from these plates. The engraving is very shallow and a lot of designs just don’t pick up. I noticed that the designs with thicker lines are easier to work with, but those with fine, thin lines are just impossible. I tried several different methods, different stamping polishes and different stampers. I did not see any difference with the exception of my super squishy stamper, which did not work at all. Metallic polishes worked better, but I think that’s the case with most stamping plates. It’s such a shame, because I like quite a few designs from this collection.
The first design was made with a plate called Bows. It’s a mix of adorable bows and ribbons. I chose this cute bow pattern and stamped it with a Konad pink stamping polish over Ella+Mila Nude Attitude. This design transferred OK, but you can see some gaps.
The next two designs are made with a plate called Basics. This plate is full of basic lines, stripes, chevrons, etc. A nice mix of everything, but quite a few of them didn’t work for me. The two that did were the wavy lines, which I stamped with a white nail polish from BPS over Kinetics Rio Rio.
The second design from the Basics plate was this beautiful geometric pattern, which worked beautifully! I stamped it with Essie No Place Like Chrome over Dance Legend Gel Prism in Archetype.
Next design was the cute ikat and it came out quite nicely. It comes from Abstract plate and I made a stamping gradient with Bundle Monster Electro Glo stamping polishes. I used the beautiful Powder Perfect Recollection as my base.
I made a very colorful and very neon animal print with the Abstract plate as well. I used nail polishes from Cirque Colors Vice 2016 collection. I used Konad black stamping polish and this design was not too successful. Lots and lots of gaps, which makes me sad, because I tried picking it up many times.
I chose this snake skin design from the Animal Print plate to create this green look. I used a magnetic polish from Dance Legend and stamped with Essie Penny Talk.
I have three looks made with the plate Sixties. This plate was probably my favorite, mainly because most of the designs picked up beautifully. The first look is made with Dance Legend Gel Prism Cyberpunk and Essie No Place Like Chrome. The second look was created by Cirque Colors Plastik and Bundle Monster Tranceland. The third look was created by mashing up some blues with a saran wrap and stamping some waves with a black Konad stamping. For the last look, I used ILNP The Road To Awe and I stamped the design with Essie No Place Like Chrome again.
What do you guys think of all the looks I created with these Color Club stamping plates? I was very excited to review them and I was desperately trying to make them work, but unfortunately these products are just not for me. I don’t consider myself a pro at stamping, but I have tested my fair share of different stamping plates and products and there are better options out these for more affordable price. The bottom line is, these plates should work for an average consumer and unfortunately they don’t.
